Michael Mancienne

Who is Michael Mancienne?

If there is one name that has everyone exited then its Michael Mancienne. Not least of all because he has been called up to the England squad by Fabio Capello to play against Germany this coming Wednesday. He is 20.

In spite of Mancienne’s supreme talent the yourg man has not had things go as according to plan as one may expect from a boy that was signed to Chelsea at the age of just 9. he signed a contract with them in 2006 but as of yet has not done anything more for the club than appear on the bench.

At the moment he is making a name for himself while on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Chelsea seem happy to send the young man out on loan in order for him to get what they perceive to be as valuable match experience. He has spent the best part of two seasons at QPR and even one an award there for runner up young player of the year. He really has made some impact with none other than John Gregory describing him as a bright star of the future for both club and country.

It was last month that Mancienne went out on loan to Wolverhampton and is said to be somewhat frustrated by the fact that he is not being given a chance at senior level by his club.

He previously rejected an offer to play for the Seychelles where he has roots and preferred instead to opt for playing with his native England.

The exciting opportunity than Mancienne has been given to be included in the England squad will give him the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of his favourite players.

It was a case of getting to speak to some of the first team players on occasion while at Chelsea. It was not a regular thing though and so he will be looking forward to doing so as part of the England squad.

John Terry feels that Mancienne is extremely good and that he has a really good future ahead of him. “We’ve got a lot of players at Chelsea and he’s been eager to go out and prove that he’s good enough. Stuart Pearce was saying that he’s been the best player in the Under-21s. His form has been fantastic for Wolves. He’s got a bright future.”

“When you go out on loan you have to stand on your own two feet and deal with things,” Terry added. “We sent him up there on his own to let him get on with it. If he can play football regularly for Wolves and other big clubs then he has got a chance to come back and do it at Chelsea.” This is also what John Terry said.

So basically its top marks all round for Mancienne and he has a bright future ahead of him. Hopefully he will get a run out against Germany
